11 deadly coffee places in Dublin you need to make it your mission to visit in 2017

Don’t talk to me till I’ve had my coffee.

WE’RE REALLY RATHER spoiled for choice when it comes to coffee in Dublin with new coffee shops popping up left, right and centre.

Here are some that you may have missed in 2016, but really ought to try this year. (Dry January and all that.)

1. Network, Aungier Street

Aungier Street has become a hive of activity over the past year or so with trendy eateries like Aungier Danger and Dublin Pizza Company moving to the neighbourhood. Another café that opened its doors is Network, which serves coffees, pastries and sandwiches. We can personally vouch for how good it is.

Bonus: the window seat is the perfect place for a spot of people-watching.

2. Gaillot et Gray, Clanbrassil Street

It may be a pizza place by night, but during the day, Gaillot et Gray is busy whipping up coffees and serving hearty lunches.

It also more than lives up to its French origins in the pastry department. (Try the madeleines. Seriously.)

3. Laine, My Love, Talbot Street

From the same people who brought you Roasted Brown comes Laine, My Love, a café on Talbot Street that specialises in tasty, healthy lunches and delicious coffee. It’s also located right under a train track, which adds a little metropolitan flavour to proceedings. (“Very NY feeling!” wrote the owners last year.)

4. Fia, Rathgar

A brunch spot par excellence, Fia is also renowned for its coffee, which is *chef’s kiss*.

Pop in and treat yourself to some eggs and coffee. Trust us, you won’t regret it.

5. Two Boys Brew, Phibsboro

Two Boys Brew opened its doors last July and has since become a favourite of people on the Northside. It’s invariably packed and with good reason — it’s a cracking spot for brunch and coffee. Get the Brew Baked Eggs and a coffee, and see what all the hype is about yourself.

6. Two Beans, Dun Laoghaire

Two Beans are serious about their coffee. In fact, they live by the maxim, “Life is too short for bad coffee.”

Whether you’re just popping in for a cuppa or you want to browse their extensive range of nerdy equipment and coffee beans, it’s a must-visit next time you’re out in Dun Laoghaire.

7. Granthams, Aungier Street

A brand new addition to the city centre. Granthams prides itself on making damn delicious coffee — salted caramel flat white, anyone? — and black pudding toasties. You know what to do.

8. Urbanity, Smithfield

Urbanity, a specialty café and roastery located on Smithfield’s Coke Lane, opened its doors in February 2016. Since then, it’s joined the ranks of Proper Order and Love Supreme as being one of the best coffee shops on the northside.

Make it your mission to visit in 2017.

9. First Draft Coffee, Temple Bar

First Draft Coffee took over the upstairs space in Filmbase (having inherited it from Roasted Brown) and it’s now easily the best cuppa going in Temple Bar. If you fancy getting away from the hustle and bustle of the cobblestones, it’s the only place to go.

10. The Fat Fox, Camden Row

A neat little coffee spot tucked away on Camden Row. They specialise in good coffee and giant, filthy sandwiches. And that’s good enough for us.

11. Ebb & Flow Coffee, Clontarf

Next time you’re out for a seaside stroll, nip into Ebb & Flow Coffee in Clontarf. Their coffee will warm you up, give you a pep in your step and have you coming back for more. (Did we mention they stock treats from Camerino Bakery? Run, don’t walk.)
